To begin, focus where you notice feeling. After you are adept at noticing and following and expanding feelings, then focus on an area where there are no feelings. Pretty soon, that area will come alive for you.

As you begin your practice, it is usually movement that stimulates feeling. So, you focus on the area where energy has been stimulated. You might feel warmth, or tingling, or you might feel tenderness or tightness. It doesn't matter what the sensation is; lightly concentrate there. See if you can keep your attention right there.
